Data Description
NESDIS 14 km sea surface temperature for North America, 1993 to 2016 -
This product presents local sea surface temperatures (degrees C). It is a composite gridded-image derived from 8-km resolution SST observations collected by Advanced High Resolution Radiometer (AVHRR) and HIRS (High Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder) instruments onboard NOAA and Metop-A satellites. It is generated every 48 hours for North America. SST is defined as the skin temperature of the ocean surface water. Data may be output as netCDF and other formats (GIF, ASCII, spreadsheet).
